What Is Occupational Health & Safety Planning

 

Today my topic is Occupational Health & Safety planning. What is occupational health and safety planning, why we need to do occupational Health & Safety Planning, how we can do Occupational Safety & Health Planning and what we can achieve from occupational Health and Safety planning?

Why we need to do occupational Health

Proper planning is the key to achieve the objectives and targets. “If you do not plan you plan to fail”. So, this same applies to occupational Health and Safety. You must plan how you can achieve Occupational Health and Safety objective and targets.

How we can do Occupational Safety & Health Planning

Planning of occupational Health & Safety focused on set objectives and targets as per OHS policy.  OHS planning focuses on how an organization can achieve a set objective and target.

 For effective OHS planning first, you need to know your scope of work or organization nature of work. As per work, scope organization decides how they perform the task and what is a method of work. For the Method of work, the organization needs to make a method statement for all jobs or disciplines as per the nature of work.

After the deciding method of work, the organization needs to do a risk assessment, After the identification of risk & hazards in the work scope organization place a control against each hazard. After the placing controls organization document the responsibility of who is responsible to monitor and apply these controls.

After the completion of the method statement and risk, the assessment organization has a clear picture of which resources required, or which controls required to make work safe. In the planning phase organization plan these resources example, competent employees, approved equipment, calibrated equipment, monitoring and measuring devices, etc.

 What we can achieve from occupational Health and Safety planning.

If you plan your work scope safe execution effectively then you can achieve your set objective and target. For planning, you know what resources needed for safe execution of work scope. You can arrange your resources in a timely manner, with affective planning you can save your time, money, cost, and reputation. If you do not plan, then you lost your time money cost, and reputation.

Planning is a basic and key for the successes.
